Tool Maker/ Machinist (1st shift)
GE Aerospace Indianapolis manufactures complex Aerospace components for a variety of applications. The Tool Maker/Machinist will be responsible for machine setup, tool maintenance, and supporting production operations while ensuring safe work practices are followed.

Responsibilities
Complete machine set-up and load tools as required
Utilize tool room equipment such as Bridgeport Mills, engine lathers, surface and internal grinding equipment, hand tools, drills, saws, insert tooling, etc
Ability to read blueprints, hand sketches, and specs. Ability to use CAD or other digital design tools to document ideas or work closely with an engineer to complete this task
Perform Jaw cutting and re-cutting
Set fixture offsets as required
Verify correct tool hardware, tool diameter, tool radius, drill length, and end mills
Verify accuracy of tool offset changes as needed
Perform periodic inspections of calibration
Maintain accurate work records
Utilize precision measuring instruments to inspect parts
Support our team concept and learn/perform other duties as required
Run production machines as needed
Communicate effectively and professionally with others, both written and verbal
Follow and promote safe work practices
Support LEAN initiatives
Lift light to medium weight in an environment that may occasionally require crouching, stooping and/or awkward work positions
Support the design of tools and fixtures
Qualification
Required
High School diploma or equivalent
2+ years of CNC machining experience
2+ years of tool room experience
Experience with Bridgeport mills and engine lathes, surface grinding, and drilling
Ability to read, understand, and utilize procedures, sketches, and blueprints as well as perform basic mathematical calculations
Preferred
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Working knowledge of precision measuring equipment and demonstrated ability to work within a team environment
Water Jet experience
Wire EDM
Gun Drill and precision boring experience
