Responsibilities

This is a developmental position being filled at the GS-04, 05, 06, or 07 Levels. At the developmental levels, you will perform assignments under closer than normal supervision
The full performance GS-07 level of this position entails the following duties:
Serve as Firefighter performing Fire, Emergency Medical Services, Hazardous Materials Incidents, and Rescue Operations
Serve as a driver and operator of firefighting apparatus, such as pumpers and aerial ladder trucks
Serve as the hazardous material emergency response team utilizing hazard and risk assessment techniques to form an incident analysis
Operate firefighting equipment, such as hoses, ladders, and hydrants to fight structural fires
Perform initial and on-going focused patient assessment and physical examination

Required

Must be a U.S. Citizen
Completion of pre-employment and periodic subsequent medical examination in accordance with DoDM 6055.06
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties
Possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions
Successful completion of an annual Job Performance Test
Conform to the requirements set-forth in the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1500
Participation in a cardiovascular physical fitness program in accordance with Army regulatory guidance
Work both inside and outside with possible exposure to inclement weather
Possess Department of Defense, IFSAC, or Pro Board professional certifications
Meet the maximum entry age of 37 for Firefighters
Provide proof of U.S. Citizenship
Complete a one year trial/probationary period may be required
Submit a government issued document indicating your date of birth
Possess National Registry Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (NREMT) or state certification in the United States indicating a future expiration date
At the GS-04 level, obtain and maintain Firefighter I and II and Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations within 12 months of appointment
At the GS-05 level, possess Firefighter I and II, Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations, and Basic Life Support Certifications
At the GS-06 level, possess Firefighter I and II, Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations, Telecommunicator I and II, Driver Operator-Pumper, and Basic Life Support Certifications
At the GS-07 level, possess Firefighter I and II, Hazardous Materials Awareness, Operations and Technician, Driver Operator-Pumper, and Basic Life Support with Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillator Certifications certified through DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification System, IFSAC, or Pro Board
