WSP is a leading engineering and professional services firm in the U.S. seeking a Power Distribution Design Engineering Intern for Summer 2026. The intern will support various engineering tasks, learn the principles of power distribution design, and assist experienced engineers in utility distribution design projects.

Responsibilities

Support a variety of engineering tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills
Learn basic principles of Power Distribution Design
Work under the supervision of multiple experienced engineers
Participate in all aspects of utility distribution design
Assist with data collection for engineering projects
Support senior engineers and designers in providing consulting services for distribution design
Help create construction drawings and perform structural pole loading
Assist with equipment sizing and material specification for medium voltage systems
Work on projects for a variety of electric utility clients, including co-ops, public utility districts, investor-owned utilities, and municipalities
Complete training on assigned tasks
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs

Required

Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related, Undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2026 or later
Must be 18 or older
Demonstrated interest in consulting engineering, the electric utility industry, or related field, and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP's work and projects
Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience
Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to executive projects
Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship

Preferred

Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related, Masters or PhD program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2026 or later
Familiarity with design, drafting, or engineering software such as MATHCAD, SOLIDWORKS, AUTOCAD, etc., as well as Microsoft Excel, is beneficial
Prior internship and leadership involvement on campus
