Electrical Studies Engineer - Senior Professional
WSP is a leading engineering and professional services firm in the U.S. that is currently seeking an Electrical Studies Engineer in their Hailey, ID office. The role involves providing technical assistance for multi-site projects, ensuring quality and compliance in the design and construction of utility and industrial projects.

Responsibilities
Determine well-defined methods for collecting, compiling, and analyzing data relating to substation components, equipment specifications for procurement package development and pricing, IFR/IRC detailed design and review processes, and IEEE/NESC Standards/NERC regulations for design work
Review and advice on third-party design documents, procurement lists, and project plans
Design Studies: substation grounding, corona and electric and magnetic fields, insulation coordination (lightning, switching surge, and contamination performance), transient (time domain) simulation, power quality (harmonics, voltage flicker, over/under voltage, etc.), motor starting, AC interference (transmission line interaction with railroads and pipelines)
Applicable Software: CDEGS, WinIGS, ATP-EMTP, PSCAD, PSSE, COMSOL
Successful candidates must be willing to travel on occasion and work successfully in a customer focused, project-oriented environment
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience), Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Science or Computer Engineering
5 to 7 years of relevant post education experience as an electrical engineer providing design deliverables for large capital projects
Engineer in Training Certification
Experience working with Operations and project controls for purposes of reporting and proposal development
Must be willing to travel on occasion
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Preferred
Preference is given to applicants with any of the following: specific training and/or power system courses covering topics such as protective relaying, symmetrical components, transmission line theory, power system transients, dynamic stability, and power system electromagnetics
Professional registration is not required; however, preference is given to applicants who are registered professional engineers (P.E., P. Eng.)
Preference is given to applicants with working knowledge and experience in more than one of the three technical disciplines listed and with experience using the applicable software packages for those disciplines
Preference is also given to applicants with experience in customer focused engineering projects in the technical areas above
Preference will be given to applicants with experience in both protective relaying and design of Protection & Control (P&C) drawings/schematics
