Responsibilities
Provide first-level operational support for unit-specific control issues
Collaborate with Process Engineering, Project Engineering, and I&E Maintenance to identify and implement process improvements
Design, recommend, and execute modifications to control strategies, and systems based on process operation reviews
Enhance utilization of control technology by training Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams on system functionality
Assess resource needs for resolving control-related challenges and determine when alternative solutions are required
Act as the primary contact for process control and automation in projects focused on production, safety, and maintenance
Diagnose and resolve issues with process control systems, including equipment malfunctions, software errors, and communication failures
Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations
Qualification
Required
University Bachelor's degree (engineering / technology): Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, plus 10+ years of relevant experience
Associate's degree: Electrical Technology, Electronics Technology, or Industrial Instrumentation Technology, plus 10+ years of relevant experience
Knowledge of batch and continuous process units within petrochemical industries
Knowledge of process control systems, including advanced regulatory control
Able to work effectively both independently and within cross-functional teams, adapting to problem scope and urgency
Demonstrates strong leadership, partnership, and clear communication across operations, engineering, and maintenance
Applies advanced analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose issues and deliver practical solutions
Proficient with computers and business applications, especially the Microsoft Office 365 suite
Preferred
Proficiency in Distributed Control Systems and related databases; ABB MOD300/800xA and Emerson DeltaV preferred
Experience with PLC hardware and software (Triconex, Allen Bradley, Modicon)
Experience in one or more languages (e.g., C, Visual Basic, SQL)
Working knowledge of protocols such as Modbus, Modbus TCP, and Profibus
