Manufacturing Engineer - Assembly Process Improvement

Helix Linear Technologies, Inc. designs and manufactures high-precision motion control systems for critical industries. The Manufacturing Engineer – Assembly Process Improvement will enhance assembly operations by designing and improving processes, creating work instructions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality production of motion control products.

Responsibilities

Design and improve assembly processes for high-precision ball screw and motion control products
Troubleshoot assembly issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions in partnership with Design Engineering and Quality
Develop and maintain clear, robust assembly work instructions and standard work documentation
Design and build assembly fixtures, loading fixtures, gauges, and tooling to improve repeatability, ergonomics, and quality.Design laser marking fixtures and supports; leverage 3D printing where appropriate for rapid iteration and deployment
Contribute to the layout, design, and continuous improvement of assembly and test work cells
Develop and maintain test programs for assembly verification and performance validation
Support assembly testing, data collection, and analysis to identify variation and improvement opportunities
Partner with Quality to ensure inspection methods and acceptance criteria are clearly defined and executable
Create and maintain controlled work instructions, setup sheets, and process documentation
Support PFMEAs, control plans, and process changes related to assembly operations
Ensure changes are well communicated and adopted on the floor
Work closely with Production, Quality, and Design Engineering to ensure assemblies are manufacturable, testable, and scalable
Support new product introductions by building prototypes, validating assembly methods, and providing feedback to design
Drive a culture of urgency, ownership, and continuous improvement within assembly operations

Required

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience
3+ years in a manufacturing or assembly engineering role, preferably in high-precision or regulated environments
Experience designing fixtures, tooling, or work cells to support assembly operations
Experience writing and maintaining assembly work instructions and standard work
Proficiency with SolidWorks or similar CAD software; hands-on fixture design experience strongly preferred
Familiarity with GD&T, basic process validation concepts, and data-driven problem solving
Experience with 3D printing for prototyping or production support is a plus
Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies is a plus
GD&T: 1 year (Required)
Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering: 3 years (Required)
Ability to Commute: Beachwood, OH 44122 (Required)
