Assistant Director of Business Operations

The Assistant Director of Business Operations supports the financial and budgetary needs of the Department of Athletics and is a key member of the Athletics Business Office, leading day-to-day operations and collaborating with various departments.

Responsibilities
Lead day-to-day business operations for assigned sports and units, including but not limited to:
Reconciling credit card transactions and travel reimbursements
Reviewing expense reports for accuracy and monitoring approval flow
Creating requisitions and facilitating contract approval process
Tracking budgets for accuracy and making corrections when necessary
Providing detailed forecasts of future expenses
Conduct monthly reconciliations with internal (Medical Billing, Career Center, budget website) and external (VAF, VSP, and Legends) partners
Partner with HR liaison to ensure accurate coding and accounting of new and existing employees
Collaborate with Ticket Office, Payroll, and HR on processing of bi-annual taxable benefits
Support the Assistant Athletics Director in the preparation of yearly financial statement audits, including but not limited to NCAA/EADA reports, ACC reports, and APA audit
Serve as point of contact for athletics camps financial operations
Special projects as assigned to meet the strategic and annual goals of the Business Office
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree required
2+ years of relevant professional experience required
Ability to analyze and interpret data, processes, and systems to derive meaningful insights for decision-making
Strong problem-solving and creative thinking skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Works effectively with a broad range of constituencies including coaches, staff, student-athletes, and external vendors
Understanding of business process and industry trends
Clear ability to maintain confidentiality
Interest in and enthusiasm for working in intercollegiate athletics
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of products
Preferred
Prior business office experience in higher education or athletics
Experience with Workday or similar ERP system
Understanding of NCAA related policies and procedures
