Accounting Projects and Process Analyst
New York Power Authority is seeking an Accounting Projects and Process Analyst to support the Controllers team in optimizing financial operations. The role involves analyzing and streamlining accounting workflows, enhancing regulatory compliance and reporting, and implementing new strategies to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Responsibilities
Responsible for planning and scheduling various project workloads
Gathers and analyzes information to prepare status reports
Ensures that assignment and scheduling of work follows company policy
Evaluates current procedures and recommends changes to improve the efficiency of planning and scheduling of projects
Tracks and records costs through work orders and invoices
Ensures that all project steps and activities are properly documented and closed in scheduling systems
Research, monitor, and analyze data to produce business insights and action recommendations
Coordinate work of cross-departmental teams to ensure project objectives are achieved and timelines are met. Follow up with various stakeholders to ensure that all project plans are executed as expected
Serves as a central point of contact to routinely relay, facilitate and keep stakeholders apprised of the project’s status and respond to questions or inquiries regarding the project
Maintains open communications and relationships with clients as well as the project team, coordinates and conducts meetings as appropriate
Qualification
Required
Accounting background
Understanding of ERP systems & implementation
Proficiency in Accounting with a focus on business/system management
Demonstrated experience with financial data analysis
Experience using tools Excel, SAP S4/Hana, and PowerBI
Compliance with New York State Public Authority's Law and other accounting rules and regulations including US GAAP, GASB, FASB and FERC
Bachelor's Degree with 2 years relevant work experience; Or Associate's Degree with 4 years relevant work experience; Or High School Diploma with 6 years relevant work experience
Strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple projects or competing deadlines
Attention to details and possess the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Ability to research issues, prepare evaluations on problems and recommend viable solutions
Demonstrated experience in collecting and analyzing data, with skill in optimizing work processes
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated skills in project tracking and management projects
Knowledge of and experience with department functions, programs and practices
Ability to observe confidentiality
Preferred
Intermediate knowledge of software used to manage, analyze and present data
Certification in a Project Management discipline, such as Project Management Professional (PMP)
Utility or Energy industry experience
