Responsibilities

The Assistant Quality Engineer supports the project team from preconstruction planning through project completion
Supports the project team during reviews of drawings and submittals to ensure conformance with project requirements
Operate, clean, and maintain laboratory test equipment
Perform inventory and document material deliveries. Verify quantities and assist with coordination of and tracking of deliveries
Samples and test soil, CCR, concrete and geosynthetic materials, as required, to verify conformance with project specifications
Reviews test reports provided by the third-party testing firm to identify any errors, discrepancies, or deficiencies
Communicates regularly with Project Managers to provide quality control updates and advise of issues or problems that may affect progress
Assist jobsite leadership with resolution of client complaints that are quality related
Provides support to project team, as needed, to include Health and Safety, Environmental, and Operations tasks
Monitor quality practices daily, along with ongoing inspections to minimize the need for corrections and punch-list items
Implement the delegated authority to stop work in the event of quality issues
Monitor subcontractor and vendor performance with respect to timeliness, efficiency, and quality
Prepares and submits reports involving inventory, calibrations, document control logs, ongoing and completed work items, weather conditions, and quality issues
Enforce and champion the requirements of the site quality program (including the processing of any required revisions) and other project quality and technical requirements
Perform physical inspection of a variety of discipline activities which may include but not limited to; piping, civil, concrete, fixed and rotating equipment, electrical, control systems, coatings, insulation, and non-destructive testing
Performs additional assignments per Quality Manager’s request

Required

Proficiency with all necessary technological tools, including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook with the ability to use other software as necessary
Ability to professionally represent the Company when dealing with external organizations, regulatory bodies and with all organizational levels internally
Excellent communication skills
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
Ability to exercise good business judgment and common sense when making recommendations and decision
Ability to multi-task and thrive in an environment where numerous tasks and projects are occurring simultaneously
Ability to meet deadlines
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the Company at jobsites and Corporate office, and effectively deal with vendors, clients and regulatory agencies
Respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, subcontractors and vendors
Bachelor's Degree with major coursework in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Project Management or related field; or
A minimum of three years of experience supporting quality control efforts in Heavy Construction and Project environments
Must have and maintain a valid state issued Driver's License with driving record that meets Saiia's risk management guidelines
