Lead Microsoft 365 Platform Engineer
FTS, Inc. is a growing organization seeking a Lead Microsoft 365 Platform Engineer to own the architectural direction and governance of its Microsoft 365 platform. This role focuses on the design, evaluation, and strategic adoption of M365 capabilities while collaborating closely with various stakeholders to ensure secure and sustainable service deployment.

Responsibilities
Research and evaluate Microsoft 365 platform capabilities and roadmap updates to identify opportunities aligned with business and security objectives
Design enterprise-scale architecture and deployment strategies for Microsoft 365 services with an emphasis on governance, scalability, and operational sustainability
Lead planning and governance efforts for Copilot and other Microsoft-based generative AI capabilities
Establish standards, guardrails, and best practices for Teams, SharePoint, Power Platform, and related services—providing guidance rather than building solutions directly
Produce clear technical documentation including architecture diagrams, deployment approaches, and operational handoff materials
Collaborate closely with IT operations teams to support implementation, adoption, and long-term platform support
Monitor Microsoft communications (roadmaps, service updates, health advisories) to proactively assess impact to the M365 environment
Investigate and resolve complex platform or architectural issues escalated from operations teams
Present architectural recommendations to technical leadership and review forums, translating technical decisions into business impact
Mentor engineering team members on architectural thinking, documentation practices, and research methodologies
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field
6+ years of experience in Microsoft 365 architecture, platform engineering, or enterprise systems engineering roles
Deep understanding of Microsoft 365 services and administrative frameworks from an architectural and governance perspective
Experience planning and implementing M365 security, compliance, and information protection capabilities (e.g., Defender, Purview, or equivalent services)
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills for complex, enterprise-scale challenges
Working knowledge of IT operations, change management, and operational handoff processes
Preferred
Microsoft certification related to Microsoft 365 (Associate level or higher)
Demonstrated ability to research solutions, evaluate trade-offs, and document architectural decisions for diverse stakeholders
Experience with Azure administration, endpoint management (UEM/Intune), identity and access management (IAM), and project tracking tools (e.g., Jira/Atlassian)
