Water Treatment Operator Trainee

They are seeking a Water Treatment Operator Trainee to participate in daily operations and maintenance of the Water Treatment and Distribution facility, providing opportunities for professional growth and development in the water treatment industry.

Responsibilities
Monitor water treatment plant and distribution processes and equipment both manually and via SCADA automation, making adjustments as necessary to control their operation
Perform water quality sampling, testing, and analysis to determine compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
Operate, maintain, control, and perform routine repair of plant equipment, including preventive maintenance duties
Utilize software programs for maintenance work orders and maintain all necessary records
Perform general maintenance duties of plant and other assigned duties
Qualification
Required
No operator licenses are required to apply
Ability to become licensed
The goal is for all operators to achieve Maine Class II Full Treatment and Class II Distribution Licenses within 2 years of hire
Working knowledge of the principles, procedures, methods, equipment, materials, and tools employed in the operation and maintenance of Water Treatment and Distribution Systems
Knowledge or ability to learn the hazards and safety precautions involved in water treatment work
Knowledge of computer applications
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
Must be able to lift or move up to 40 lbs. on a regular basis
Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check, pre-placement physical and drug screen before employment
Preferred
Preference will be given to those who already hold a Maine Class I Operator-in-Training Treatment and/or Class I Operator-in-Training Distribution License
1-3 years' experience in the water treatment and distribution industry preferred but will consider other related experience
Experience with the maintenance of pumps, compressors and plumbing fixtures, or a background in maintenance is highly desirable
A valid State of Maine motor vehicle operator's license
