FAE - Senior Field Applications Engineer (FPGA Specialist)
Microchip Technology Inc. is a global organization that designs technology powering the world. They are seeking a Senior Field Applications Engineer specializing in FPGA solutions to provide technical expertise, support customer engagement, and drive design wins.
Responsibilities
Serve as the primary technical contact for customers, providing expert guidance on FPGA architectures, design methodologies, and implementation strategies
Support pre-sales and post-sales activities, including product presentations, technical training, and hands-on demonstrations
Collaborate with customers to understand their requirements, propose optimal FPGA solutions, and assist in system-level design and integration
Troubleshoot complex technical issues, offering timely and effective solutions to ensure customer satisfaction
Work with internal engineering and product management teams to relay customer feedback and influence future product development
Develop and deliver technical collateral such as application notes, reference designs, and white papers
Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive products in the FPGA space
Mentor and support junior FAEs and other technical staff as needed
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
5+ years of experience in FPGA design, development, and customer-facing technical roles
Deep understanding of FPGA architectures, design tools (e.g., Vivado, Quartus, Libero), and hardware description languages (VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog)
Experience with high-speed interfaces, embedded processors, and system-level integration
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
Willingness to travel to customer sites and industry events as required
Preferred
Experience with SoC FPGAs, security features, and advanced timing closure techniques
Familiarity with software development for embedded systems (C/C++)
Prior experience in a Field Applications Engineer or similar customer-facing technical role
