Regulatory Compliance Engineer, Charging
Tesla is focused on accelerating the world’s transition to sustainable energy by developing innovative energy storage systems. The Regulatory Compliance Engineer will be responsible for ensuring product safety and reliability through testing and certification of renewable energy and electric vehicle charging products, working closely with design teams and testing laboratories.

Responsibilities
Regulatory product architecture and design
Support the research of new market entry requirements
Review of products, specifications, and test plans
Developing test criteria, methodologies and pass/fail criteria
Support product registrations and permitting applications
Debug/RCA non-conformities of products
Work with NRTLs to achieve product compliance certificates
Convert problem statements to specification requirements
Compliance validation & data analysis which may include high power grid-connected batteries, EV chargers and solar products
Perform product safety testing, troubleshooting and bug fixing
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, preferred major in Power Electronics or equivalent experience
More than 2 years' experience in product regulatory and compliance role
Experienced in renewable energy products/standards and power electronics
Understanding the EU CE requirements, North American Listings and APAC regulations
Compliance / certification experience per ANSI/CAN/UL/IEEE and IEC/EN/ISO standards
Demonstrated experience of taking products through the certification process
Ability to navigate/interpret ambiguity of various product safety standards
Good understanding of product standards (IEC/UL/CSA, 62368-1, UL 2202, UL 2594, UL 2252, UL 2251, UL 9741, UL 2750, and UL 2231-x)
Knowledge in California/National Type Evaluation Program (CTEP / NTEP), Payment Systems, & Metering
Knowledge in electrical equipment evaluation (FEBs NFPA 790/791), NFPA 70, UL 508, SPE-1000, and NEC/CEC requirements
