Business Banking Portfolio Relationship Manager

Responsibilities
Serve as primary relationship manager, deepening client relationships through consistent engagement and providing exceptional client service, proactively addressing client concerns to enhance banking experience
Utilize Salesforce to document activity, manage opportunities, and maintain pipeline visibility
Actively identify and pursue business opportunities through engaging relationship managing activities
Conduct client calls and meetings to assess their financial needs, challenges, and opportunities, tailoring banking solutions to meet their goals
Provide consultative outreach on the existing loan portfolio to cross sell Bank solutions and services
Travel within the bank’s footprint to visit clients and deepen relationships as needed
Execute portfolio sales and retention strategy focused on preserving balances and increasing wallet share
Partner with ROMs supporting loan relationships of $250,000 and below to provide guidance, mentorship, and support on portfolio management, client conversations, and relationship deepening strategies
Collaborate with branch teams to optimize portfolio performance, enhance client experience, and ensure consistent coverage and service standards
Support smooth onboarding of newly booked clients into the portfolio
Monitor portfolio performance metrics including retention and cross-sell penetration
Develop deep understanding of client operations, cash flow, business, and personal financial goals
Identify and execute opportunities for relationship expansion across business and personal banking
Conduct proactive, needs-based outreach using Salesforce, e.g., annual reviews and lifecycle touchpoints
Manage active loan portfolio, ensuring compliance with loan terms, polices, and regulatory requirements
Conduct portfolio reviews, identify risks, monitor payment trends, and address signs of potential issues
Assist in evolving the portfolio sales process to include frequency and types of Client contacts focused on deepening existing relationships
Partner closely with Portfolio Servicing and Operations teams to proactively address loan maintenance, servicing requests, documentation updates, modifications, and client inquiries across the portfolio
Function as the relationship quarterback on servicing-related matters, ensuring timely resolution, clear communication, and a seamless client experience
Analyze borrower financial statements, credit history, and collateral to assess ongoing risk
Perform comprehensive financial analysis, including review of financial statements, credit reports, and cash flow projections, to determine creditworthiness
Develop and Negotiate Loan terms and recommend loan structures, repayment schedules, and collateral requirements in alignment with client needs and the bank’s credit policies
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in business or finance preferred, or equivalent experience demonstrated through a combination of the following: work and military experience, and education/training
5+ years of business lending experience in the financial industry with a proven history of managing relationships, developing business, sustaining production, and ability to perform multiple goal categories
Prior experience cross-selling bank solutions and services to existing loan customers
Understanding of business lending credit fundamentals, including financial statement analysis
Experience presenting clear, well-supported loan requests to underwriting partners
Proficiency with Salesforce, nCino, or similar CRM and loan origination systems
Superior Client experience skills, communication skills, and consultative selling as a Trusted Advisor
Must be highly organized, self-motivated, and comfortable managing a large portfolio independently
