Responsibilities
Lead nuclear engineering efforts across reactor physics, core design, fuel behavior, and system safety
Support advanced reactor concepts (SMR, microreactor, fast spectrum, novel fuel cycles)
Perform and review neutronics, thermal-hydraulics, and safety analyses
Contribute to licensing strategy and interactions with regulators (NRC or international equivalents)
Partner closely with mechanical, materials, electrical, and manufacturing teams
Support early prototype testing, validation, and scale-up to commercial deployment
Help define engineering standards and technical direction for a growing nuclear team
Qualification
Required
BS, MS, or PhD in Nuclear Engineering or a closely related field
8+ years of experience in nuclear engineering, reactor design, or safety analysis
Strong understanding of reactor physics, fuel performance, and nuclear safety principles
Experience with tools such as MCNP, SERPENT, SCALE, RELAP, TRACE, or similar
Comfortable operating in a startup or R&D-heavy environment
Able to work cross-functionally and influence technical decisions at the system level
Preferred
Familiarity with advanced reactor licensing pathways
Experience with SMRs, microreactors, fast reactors, or non-LWR designs
Background in fuel development, materials, or high-temperature systems
Prior involvement in first-of-a-kind (FOAK) programs
Startup or national lab experience (DOE, INL, ORNL, LANL, etc.)
