Chief Forensic Laboratories
The Los Angeles County Department of Human Resources is seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking scientific leader to serve as Chief Forensic Laboratories. In this role, the incumbent will oversee the Forensic Laboratory Division, ensuring accreditation and scientific integrity while guiding multidisciplinary scientific teams in high-profile medico-legal investigations.
Responsibilities
Direct the Forensic Laboratory Division and its scientific teams
Oversee toxicology, DNA, and chemical analysis operations
Ensure accreditation, quality assurance, and scientific excellence
Drive research, innovation, and staff development
Represent the division in legal proceedings as an expert witness
Manage budgets, resources, and grants
Qualification
Required
A Doctorate degree from an accredited college with specialization in chemistry, biochemistry, toxicology, pharmacology, criminalistics, physics, or biology
Two years of experience supervising personnel in a forensic sciences laboratory
Preferred
A Master's degree from an accredited college with specialization in chemistry, biochemistry, toxicology, pharmacology, criminalistics, physics, or biology -AND- three (3) years of experience supervising personnel in a forensic sciences laboratory
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in chemistry, biochemistry, toxicology, pharmacology, criminalistics, physics, or biology -AND- four (4) years' experience supervising personnel in a forensic sciences laboratory as a Supervising Criminalist I within the County of Los Angeles
