Senior Engineer - Automotive
MAKS Enterprises is a globally renowned provider in the rebuilding of Electronic Automotive Modules, specializing in the restoration of critical components in vehicles. They are seeking a highly experienced Electrical Engineer to lead the development and refinement of software and hardware solutions for complex automotive control modules.
Responsibilities
Debug and modify embedded firmware for automotive electronic modules and test systems
Lead efforts involving CAN, LIN, and related automotive communication protocols, including message decoding, injection, simulation, and fault replication
Analyze OEM module behavior and reverse-engineer communication patterns and logic
Work directly with microcontrollers, embedded processors, and peripherals (GPIO, ADC, timers, communication interfaces, etc.)
Develop and maintain tools for diagnostics, testing, flashing, and validation of automotive modules
Collaborate with hardware engineers to define system architecture, interfaces, and test strategies
Establish engineering best practices for version control, documentation, testing, and repeatability
Support production and quality teams by resolving complex field and manufacturing issues
Drive continuous improvement in repair accuracy, scalability, and long-term reliability
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)
5–10+ years of experience in embedded systems engineering, preferably in automotive or industrial electronics
Solutions based mindset with ability to investigate and network to solve complex issues
Strong hands-on experience with CAN bus communication, including CAN tools, message analysis, and protocol-level debugging
Proficiency in embedded C/C++ for microcontroller-based systems
Experience working with embedded controllers / MCUs and low-level hardware interfaces
Ability to read and interpret schematics, datasheets, and technical documentation
Proven ability to independently troubleshoot complex system-level issues
Ability to work full-time on-site in Chatsworth, CA
Preferred
Experience with automotive diagnostics, UDS, OBD-II, or proprietary OEM protocols
Familiarity with reverse engineering automotive electronics or legacy modules
Experience with CAN logging devices (e.g. Intrepid)
Experience with test automation, or custom test fixtures
Exposure to ISO 9001 or other regulated manufacturing environments
Experience supporting production-scale electronics operations
