Responsibilities
Prepares and designs plans for site grading, drainage, paving, utilities, and roadways for public and private sector clients. Contributes significantly to projects of all sizes
Prepares hydrology, earthwork, and roadway plans and profile evaluations
Assists in collecting due diligence information and preparing concept site engineering plans
Contributes significantly to the preparation of engineering reports, plans, and specifications
Prepares submittals to State, Municipal, and other agencies
Applies judgement on design decisions and selects from standard engineering techniques and alternatives
Makes independent decisions within a general framework and work within agreed upon timelines and budgets
Keeps Project Engineer and Project Manager informed of workload and any changes in project scope or additional services
Interacts with other departments and offices in order to coordinate work
Is active in technical societies
Responsible for small to moderately difficult projects from inception to completion
Has some communication with clients
Is available to attend meetings or events outside of normal working hours
Directs and supervises the work of entry-level engineers, technicians, drafters and administrative staff
Actively observes and acts in an appropriate manner related to safety
Qualification
Required
Experience in highway/transportation focus
Ability to develop a strong design background
Ability to work on contracts with MassDOT, MBTA, RIDOT, or NHDOT
Ability to liaise with clients and government agencies
Participation on design teams
