State Park Intern - MK Goddard State Park
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking interns for its state park system, which offers students the chance to engage in park operations and environmental education. Interns will work closely with park staff on initiatives related to interpretive programs, outdoor recreation, and public outreach, while gaining hands-on experience in various aspects of state park management.
Responsibilities
Engage in technical activities related to environmental interpretation and resource management
Work closely with the park resource ranger, environmental education specialist, and/or park manager
Contribute to a variety of initiatives such as interpretive programs, outdoor recreation activities, special events, and other public outreach efforts
Gain valuable experience in various facets of state park operations and management, including maintenance, office administration, research, and providing assistance to park rangers
Qualification
Required
Current full-time enrollment in a two-year degree, bachelor's degree or advanced degree program in one of the following majors: Park and Resource Management, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Wildlife and Fisheries Science
An approved major course which includes a qualifying 24 credit hours of study in the physical, biological and environmental sciences may be acceptable
Freshman year completed by May 2026
Good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher)
Pennsylvania residency or enrollment at a Pennsylvania college or university
You must possess a valid driver's license which is not under suspension
You must be able to perform essential job functions
In accordance with Act 153 of 2014, this position is required to complete Child Abuse, Criminal and Federal Criminal History Checks within 10 days of hire
