Job Control Tech

Irex Contracting Group is seeking a Job Control Tech responsible for tracking labor productivity and job costs on projects exceeding $50,000. The role involves collaborating with Account Managers to set up jobs, visiting job sites to monitor progress, and preparing control reports to ensure timely management of open jobs.

Responsibilities

Before the job starts, work with Account Managers to break down jobs into work packages / cost codes that will allow them to be tracked efficiently
Set up jobs and cost code break-downs in the accounting system and/or project management software
Visit open jobs to track progress and work with the Construction Manager to identify construction issues including delays, added/reduced scope, change orders, releases and non-releases, congestion, specification deviations, inefficiencies, etc
Identify any manpower issues
Update the accounting system and/or project management software with job progress, and adjustments to the estimated cost to complete
Prepare job control reports for all tracked jobs
Meet with branch, construction, and account managers responsible for the jobs being tracked to review the reports and to discuss any issues that you or they have identified

Required

Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
Previous drafting experience or the ability to read blueprints
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
Valid driver's license and the ability to travel within assigned territory as necessary
Must have reliable transportation
High school diploma (or equivalent) and applicable field construction experience. OR Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a discipline that requires analytical, communication, and/or organizational skills, or military service, or applicable field construction experience

Preferred

Knowledge of Autodesk Navisworks, BIM Track, and/or MIKE Estimating software
Advanced Microsoft Excel Experience
OSHA-10 Certification
Field Construction experience or exposure to professionals in the construction industry
