Responsibilities

Collaborate closely with engineering managers and engineering squads to design, develop, and oversee implementation of technical solutions for a variety of opportunities and challenges within DTN’s technology base

Work closely with the Chief Architect to ensure solutions follow the core tenets of DTN’s technology strategy

Create and curate DTN’s architectural documentation, including Architectural Design Reviews and other technical documentation

Govern, prioritize, and drive mitigation for technical debt/operational risk related data engineering, data warehousing, ETL processes, etc

Coordinate design reviews with key stakeholders regarding innovation and tech debt solutions within the scope of expertise

Establish and espouse best-practices across and within the Technical Guilds at DTN that will be used by team members in all sectors of DTN’s operations

Facilitate resolutions of technical conflicts and help the team with trade-offs

Required

8+ years data modeling and data engineering experience, with a focus on petabyte-scale data warehousing and processing

Commensurate experience with API design, cloud data pipelines, ETL systems, and related topics

Experience with Semantic Stack architectures a significant plus

Ability to lead and influence to a wide range of audiences without direct reports/authority

Expertise in cleansing, structuring and transforming data, in diverse formats and from diverse sources

Strong experience building applications, ETL systems & data management systems using technologies within the AWS ecosystem

Experience with data cataloging & master-data-management

Solid understanding of object-oriented programming, build tools, development frameworks and version control systems

Demonstrated ability to design and document system-level architectures, assess solution viability and tradeoffs, and present impactful analyses for decision-making on technical direction

Experience integrating with CI/CD tools such as Bitbucket Pipelines, Bamboo, Gitlab, Terraform, etc

Preferred

Strong practical experience with both Agile and SCRUM

Strong faculty with the AWS ecosystem, specifically with native-service components

Significant experience building, deploying and maintaining large-scale automated solutions on AWS

Data Science, Data Engineering and/or ML experience (Jupyter&/Python)

Large-scale API design, specifically including GraphQL and related technologies
