Responsibilities

Build, implement and continuously improve the Nobel Academy Blaster Training offerings, On-the-job Training, ExMS and Competencies to be the best in the industry
Manage and coordinate the assessment of all of Dyno Nobel Americas (DNA) blasters against defined competencies on a 12-month cycle
Complete assessments in the field and oversee a small team of 1-2 assessors to assist with this effort
Play a key role in effectively managing risks associated with blasting practices and in the improvement of internal blasting standards and practices
Develop the Dyno Nobel Americas (DNA) Blaster talent pool through blaster development programs into the best in the industry
Assist in the implementation of the Zero Harm strategy relating to blasting practices
Facilitate incident investigation and root cause analysis activities to continually reduce risk and improve company performance and periodic attendance at the Zero Harm Council
Promote an environment of learning amongst DNA Blasters resulting in open sharing of both failures and successes
Train all blasters through new Nobel Academy Blaster curriculum and on-the-job training
Manage Blaster Assessors and support coaching directly in the field
Monitor and measure the effectiveness of blasters including quarterly and annual reporting for all region General Managers
Help assessors do their best work each day in order to achieve the larger goals of the organization

Required

Bachelors degree in mining engineering or related discipline
7+ years high level and progressively responsible professional work experience in the explosives industry; particularly blasting practices
Expert knowledge and practical application of blasting best practices. This includes an extensive knowledge of product used in the different environments / applications
Strong and demonstrated practical knowledge of relevant blasting regulatory requirements in all applications (mining, quarrying, construction, pipeline, seismic)
Ability to transfer knowledge to others (primarily Blasters and Sales personnel) in a way that results in clear improvement in identified competencies
Build and maintain training and auditing systems
Strong training and content delivery skills
Computer literacy in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office 365
Positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and a team player

Preferred

Masters degree preferred
Demonstrated qualification by years of relevant industry experience in drilling and blasting is an acceptable alternative
