Public Relations & Media Strategy Manager

Responsibilities
Develop and execute media strategies that highlight Peraton’s mission impact, program performance, and contributions to national security and modernization priorities
Build and maintain relationships with national, defense, technology, and federal-policy reporters
Draft and pitch stories that reinforce the value of federal modernization, secure digital infrastructure, innovation, and operational readiness
Draft media materials including: press releases, statements, op-eds, media advisories, and reporter briefing documents
Prepare senior leaders for interviews, Capitol Hill engagements, industry forums, and national events
Develop talking points, speeches, and briefing packets aligned with federal priorities such as accountability, efficiency, modernization, and mission effectiveness
Support messaging around contract wins, program milestones, and major government partnerships
Shape content that reinforces Peraton’s commitment to transparency, ethics, and responsible management of federal investments
Highlight programs and initiatives advancing national security, cyber resiliency, border protection, federal health modernization, and critical infrastructure improvement
Support issues management and rapid-response communications, including drafting holding statements and Q&A for time-sensitive matters
Develop communications campaigns supporting major program announcements, customer engagements, federal events, and industry tradeshows
Collaborate with BD, program leaders, and SMEs to craft messaging that clearly articulates Peraton’s value to government stakeholders
Produce content for digital channels, including newsrooms, LinkedIn, and functional landing pages
Track national and federal-policy media trends, competitive activity, and coverage relating to modernization, cybersecurity, infrastructure, defense, and government reform
Deliver regular reporting to leadership on media performance, sentiment, and reputation trends
Recommend strategies that strengthen Peraton’s visibility and alignment to federal mission objectives
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, journalism, political science, or related field
10 years of experience in PR, media relations, federal communications, or related discipline
Strong media pitching skills and established relationships with reporters covering government, defense, technology, or national affairs
Proven ability to craft clear, compelling messages for government audiences and complex technical subjects
Experience preparing executives for high-stakes interviews and national-level engagements
Ability to operate with discretion, urgency, and precision in a mission-driven environment
US Citizenship
Preferred
Experience in defense, intelligence, homeland security, or federal civilian sectors
Understanding of federal modernization priorities, mission delivery frameworks, and reform-oriented initiatives
Active clearance or ability to obtain one
