Soliciting stories from customers
Drafting press releases
Pitching stories to news outlets
Supporting press conferences
Building and maintaining relationships with reporters and Flock Safety’s public sector customers
Engaging with, developing and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders
Cold calling a customer or reporter to pitch a story
Balancing a pipeline of multiple projects in various stages of development each week
Meeting deadlines, responding to requests quickly, and accomplishing assigned tasks
Sourcing press conferences and announcements
Handling basic media inquiries on your own
Representing Flock as a spokesperson
Qualification
Required
6-8 years of PR and communications experience either with an agency or in-house
Direct experience dealing with reporters is required
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Familiarity in press release and media pitch writing styles
Solid understanding of the media landscape
Strong organization and time management skills
Self-starter mentality with the ability to work independently and quickly in a fast-moving environment
Ability to engage with, develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders
Ability to balance a pipeline of multiple projects in various stages of development each week
Bachelor's degree in public relations, journalism, marketing, sales, or a relevant field
Preferred
Public speaking skills are preferable
Experience dealing with public sector employees (law enforcement, elected officials, or city/county employees)
Prior relationships with reporters a plus
Prior relationships with public sector employees (especially law enforcement) a plus
