ALC Summer Law Clerk
Asian Law Caucus is the nation’s first legal organization focusing on advancing and defending the civil rights of Asian and Pacific Islander communities. They are seeking summer law clerks to assist with legal research, client interviews, and support for various advocacy initiatives under the supervision of attorneys.
Non-profit Organization Management
Responsibilities
Interview clients
Perform legal research and analysis
Conduct fact-gathering and investigation in support of litigation and advocacy initiatives
Draft court filings and memoranda
Prepare community training and briefing materials
Attend clinics, hearings and policy meetings
Navigate a range of interconnected social justice issues
Engage in community education and outreach
Advocate for local and state policies that preserve housing
Create affordable housing options
Defend the rights of low-income tenants
Represent and advocate for low-income immigrants facing deportation
Engage in direct services, strategic litigation, and policy advocacy on worker rights issues
Support worker organizing
Qualification
Required
Currently enrolled in a J.D. program at an accredited law school
Demonstrated commitment to low-income, immigrant, and/or API/AMEMSA communities
Excellent skills in legal research, analysis, and written and oral communication
Preferred
Language proficiency in an Asian or Middle Eastern language is a plus, but not required
Students with law school clinical experience are encouraged to apply
