Molecular/Microbiology Lab Manager

Responsibilities
Provide leadership to and manage the department supervisor and other personnel as required, make decisions, solve problems, develop procedures, and conduct and attend meetings
Conceptualize, develop and implement effective plans and programs for the department; including technical, personnel, facilities, management, and quality assurance
Manage the employee hiring process including developing and updating job descriptions in conjunction with Human Resources, developing performance expectations, identifying essential functions and knowledge, skills and abilities required for applicable positions
Continuously monitor and evaluate departmental operations and workflow, making changes as needed
Oversight and manage employee and team performance, new employee orientation processes, employee training and continuing education
Manage employee performance by coaching, counseling, motivating, and evaluating employees on a continual basis. Implement disciplinary action as needed and in consultation with Human Resources
Collaborate with senior management to monitor the department is operating within budget guidelines
Ensure effective employee relations by sustaining an ethical, non-discriminatory and safe work environment and establishing effective communication lines and methods. Identify and solve employee problems, manage conflict, and respond to grievances as needed
Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of an effective departmental QA program and metrics
Evaluate new equipment and new testing platforms as well as repatriation of testing
Delegate the performance of validation, and correlation of new equipment and procedures to appropriate staff
Oversight the completion of calibration, maintenance of all departmental equipment
Coordinate the maintenance, development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures
Adhere to the compliance guidelines for the laboratory industry
Support PathGroup's mission, vision, goals and management decisions
Exercise all laboratory safety precautions and adhere to lab procedures as stated in procedure manuals
Perform all job responsibilities in alignment with the industry's best security practices and regulatory guidelines to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health information and other sensitive company data
Must be familiar with and abide by the Corporate Compliance Program and all corporate policies, including the Privacy and Security policies
Qualification
Required
Licensed Medical Technologist (MT/MLS)
Advanced skills necessary to perform essential roles within the department
Leadership and management skills to oversee department supervisor and personnel
Ability to make decisions and solve problems
Experience in developing procedures and conducting meetings
Capability to conceptualize, develop, and implement effective plans and programs for the department
Experience in managing the employee hiring process
Ability to develop and update job descriptions in conjunction with Human Resources
Experience in developing performance expectations and identifying essential functions and knowledge, skills, and abilities required for applicable positions
Ability to continuously monitor and evaluate departmental operations and workflow
Experience in managing employee and team performance
Ability to conduct new employee orientation processes and employee training
Experience in coaching, counseling, motivating, and evaluating employees
Ability to implement disciplinary action in consultation with Human Resources
