Responsibilities
Develops new products that meet and/or exceed established criteria through the use of a phased-gate NPD process
Technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating assignments throughout the entire NPD process
Assembles prototype and pilot units to ensure design intent is met and makes changes where necessary prior to production launch
Makes decisions as required to keep development projects on schedule and to implement changes to existing products where necessary
Ensures that engineering deliverables comply with department/corporate procedures and applicable regulations and standards where applicable
Actively participates in cost reduction projects via component redesign and/or process improvements
Ensures that NPD process is being followed and documented according to established procedures
Proficiency in 2D and 3D modeling software necessary – Solidworks and AutoCAD preferred
Experience with ERP/MRP systems extremely beneficial
Understanding of residential and commercial building codes and standards beneficial
Knowledge of manufacturing processes related but not limited to sheetmetal, machining and welding necessary
Ability to work successfully with associates at all levels within the organization
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of programs
Strong interpersonal and written communication
Other related duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) from an accredited four-year college or university
At least seven (7) years related experience in a manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Proficiency in 2D and 3D modeling software necessary – Solidworks and AutoCAD preferred
Knowledge of manufacturing processes related but not limited to sheetmetal, machining and welding necessary
Ability to work successfully with associates at all levels within the organization
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of programs
Strong interpersonal and written communication
