Responsibilities
Oversees the maintenance and repair of all property assets to ensure they are in proper working order for guest
Leads a team of engineers, technicians, and contractors to address any problems with plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or other systems
Collaborates with other departments (such as housekeeping, food and beverage, and front desk) to prioritize maintenance needs and minimize interruptions to guest comfort
Develops and implements preventative maintenance programs to extend the lifespan of equipment and reduce operating costs
Manages budgets and procurement processes to acquire necessary supplies and services within approved spending limits
Ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and health regulations by maintaining accurate records and conducting regular audits
Communicates effectively with guests and staff about maintenance issues, progress on repairs, and any necessary precautions or inconveniences
Stays up to date on industry trends and emerging technologies and adapts standard practices and procedures to improve efficiency and guest satisfaction
Qualification
Required
Minimum 3 years engineering supervisory/management experience in a mid to large size hotel (minimum 700 rooms)
College degree from accredited university
Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds
Service oriented style with professional presentation and communication skills
A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast paced environment
Refined verbal communication skills
Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holiday
Proficient in basic computer skills as well as hotel systems (such as Opera, Hotsos, Rex, etc.)
Preferred
A minimum of 5-years building maintenance experience is required, with hotel experience preferred
Strong trouble-shooting skills in all areas of maintenance in guest rooms, meeting space, and front of the house areas, as well as back of house areas including kitchen, laundry, electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems, using a windows-based computer system
Ability to read blueprints and schematics is also required
A strong working knowledge of all major building systems, including life-safety systems, is required for this position
Good communication skills are necessary
Strong leadership skills, and a willingness to work different shifts as the demands of business dictates
