Responsibilities
Define, own, and architect the company-wide data strategy, infrastructure, and operationalization, ensuring alignment with business objectives for retention, growth, and operational excellence
Lead the planning, prioritization, and execution of high-impact data initiatives, collaborating closely with engineering, business intelligence, and analytics teams
Enable decision science at scale: predictive modeling, experimentation, churn analysis, LTV modeling, and personalization strategies
Partner with Product, Marketing, and Operations to translate business priorities into actionable data initiatives, while leaving day-to-day pipeline execution to VP-level or operational teams
Establish and enforce data governance, quality, security, and compliance policies across large-scale hosting and SMB datasets
Communicate insights, trade-offs, and strategic recommendations effectively to executive leadership
Mentor senior individual contributors and managers, helping to scale a high-performing, technically sophisticated data organization
Qualification
Required
10+ years of experience in data engineering, data science, or analytics, with at least 3–5 years in technical leadership or Head of Data-level roles
Proven experience with high-volume consumer and SMB datasets — millions to billions of users, e-commerce, or hosting platforms
Strong technical foundation in data infrastructure, pipelines, cloud platforms (Azure, OCI, etc.), ETL/ELT, orchestration (Airflow, DBT), warehouses/lakes, and decision science / predictive modeling
Hands-on understanding of statistics, ML, algorithms, linear algebra, optimization, and experimentation frameworks
Ability to bridge technical execution and business strategy, influencing Product, Marketing, and Operations without managing day-to-day analytics reporting
Excellent communicator, capable of presenting technical strategies and insights to executives
Ambitious, self-driven, and hungry to define the future of data at a large-scale hosting organization
Preferred
Degrees from top-tier universities in computer science, data science, mathematics, or a related field
Experience in hosting, SaaS, or high-volume consumer platforms
Hands-on experience with ML productization, personalization, recommendation systems, or predictive analytics for customer retention
Familiarity with infrastructure and operational telemetry data, including uptime, site reliability, and service performance
Published research in ML, AI, or statistics is a plus
