Responsibilities

Conducts safety inspections of bridges and other structures, and prepares associated written technical reports and electronic drawings
Assists inspections using various testing methods, mechanized access machinery, climbing or diving equipment, and drones or sonar scanning devices
Mobilizes to other offices/states as required to staff additional inspection teams
Performs additional structural assessment-related duties as assigned or required

Required

Bachelor of Science in Civil, Structural or related Engineering discipline (ABET-accredited preferred)
Ability to work constructively in a team environment, grow to supervise other's work, communicate and maintain professional working relationships
Willing to attend bridge inspection training courses based on the FHWA Bridge Inspector's Reference Manual (BIRM) and keep current with refresher and continuing education requirements
Must be open to travel out-of-state or on short notice for emergency work
Assist with preparation of scopes of work, fee proposals, and technical responses for proposal requests
Must be physically able to perform bridge inspection task in the field, including different types of access and conditions

Preferred

Engineer in Training (EIT) or Engineering Intern (EI) certification is a plus
Any NHI bridge inspection coursework is a plus
Any bridge inspection experience is a plus
