Dallas Independent School District is seeking an Administrative Assistant I to support the Homeless Education Program. The role involves assisting with data entry, coordinating transportation for homeless students, and providing support to families and staff in matters concerning homeless children.

Responsibilities

Assist in entry of all data concerning homeless students in the district

Assist in effectively assuring that all homeless students are enrolled promptly into school under McKinney Vento guidelines

Provide assistance to manager, office staff, campuses and families in matters concerning homeless children and youths in the Dallas Independent School District

Coordinate with the Dallas ISD Transportation Department and neighboring districts to arrange transportation to school of origin

Assist the Homeless Program Liaison with all programming and documentation for the Homeless Education Program

Coordinate services and resources from internal and external sources to meet the basic needs of students

Compile data for reports by summarizing support and services for homeless children

Answer general questions in reference to the Homeless Education Program, provide appropriate answers and directing all contacts to appropriate locations

Organize and maintain an accurate and efficient filing system

Compile all purchasing information and payroll information to be entered by Administrative Assistant to the Executive Director

Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned

Required

Accredited high school diploma or equivalent

Knowledge of computer software programs such as Chancery, Oracle, Outlook, Excel, and Microsoft Office

Must be able to manage crisis situations for all Dallas ISD campuses when they involve homeless children

Knowledgeable of housing and shelter resources for homeless families and their children

Knowledgeable of services provided to students of all needs within the Dallas ISD

Must be able to work with and have a working knowledge of every department in Dallas ISD in order to assure that all homeless children are receiving quality services from the district

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Preferred

Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

Experience in grant writing

Knowledge of McKinney-Vento Act
