Responsibilities

Oversee Practice operations of Billing functions, ensuring timeliness, accuracy, compliance and standards fulfillment as defined by Practice and Division Leadership. Provide relevant guidance for Billing Staff to resolve internal and external issues
Inform Administration of any significant issues in the Billing area (e.g., backlogs, payer issues, vendor issues, etc)
Stay abreast of regulatory requirements and company compliance policies, ensuring timely staff education
Inform Billing staff regarding payer requirements, significant changes and developments. Develop and monitor charge capture, verification and coding processes
Establish and monitor controls to ensure appropriate submission and acceptance of electronic and manual claims
Monitor system reports and act on trends and/or root causes
Monitor Billing Department performance according to quality and productivity standards. Complete monthly trending analysis of Practice Billing Department performance
Prepare statistical information and reports for the management and operations team. Coordinate and Promote implementation and monitoring of standard master files, processes, reporting and education programs
Follow overall market trends and communicate significant shifts to practice leadership and others as appropriate
Understand and communicate nuances of billing various payers
Oversee management of Billing personnel, performing hiring, promotion, salary adjustment and personnel action were appropriate
Develop specific objectives and performance standards for each area of responsibility. Practice and adhere to Code of conduct philosophy and Mission and Value Statement

Required

Bachelor's degree in business or related field
Minimum 3 years' billing experience
Minimum 5 years' healthcare management experience

Coding certification through AAPC or AHIMA
