Responsibilities

Contributing significantly to successful results in technology development, product development, and support of existing products. Performs a detailed cost-benefit analysis for design optimization
Creating electrical designs for industrial motors per internal specifications and industry standards from fractional through integral horsepower ranges. Maintains a special emphasis on AC induction motor design methodology, modeling techniques, test standards, and analysis of motor test data
Leveraging expertise in motor design, contributing innovative and creative ideas to a variety of complex R&D assignments. Ensures appropriate protection of newly created intellectual property. Acts as project leader or senior project member providing experience in the execution and use of supporting engineering tools, processes, and methods
Collaborating with Product Management, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain on product specification, application assistance, regulatory or certification requirements and processes while sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues to ensure timely and high-quality results

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with a minimum of 12 years of experience with Electric Motors and minimum 5 years in AC Induction Motors
Knowledge of electric motor technologies, advanced design methodologies (FEA), manufacturing processes, and customer support experience
Working knowledge of UL, CSA, CE, IEEE, IEC, NEMA regulatory compliance
Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US

Preferred

Lean Six Sigma or PMP – Certifications
Master's Degree in Engineering
SAP
AutoCAD
SolidWorks
