Responsibilities

Maintain operating room (OR) readiness by cleaning, assembling, preparing and maintaining equipment

Assist with surgical case setup, opening and knowledge of surgical supplies, turnover, and cleaning procedures in accordance with infection control and OSHA standards

Support anesthesia providers by preparing, cleaning, and restocking anesthesia equipment and supplies

Transport non-monitored patients, blood products, and specimens safely and efficiently

Monitor and maintain inventory levels of surgical and anesthesia supplies, compressed gas tanks, and biohazard containers

Demonstrate knowledge of emergency procedures, infection control practices, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

Apply standard precautions when handling hazardous substances and patient materials

Serve as a role model and resource for surgical support technicians

Train and orient new staff on OR procedures, protocols, and job responsibilities

Oversee ongoing education and ensure staff compliance with performance standards

Delegate and monitor daily assignments, ensuring timely and thorough task completion

Collaborate with OR and PACU coordinators to manage workflow, patient transport, and room turnover

Encourage compliance and adherence to AORN standards

Promote best practices and a positive work environment through constructive feedback and teamwork

Required

Minimum of 5 years of experience in Surgical Services as a Surgical Support Tech or in a hospital setting required

HS diploma preferred/Equivalent from an accredited school
