The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control is seeking a Park Interpreter for Killens Pond State Park. Responsibilities

Lead school and public environmental programs tied to State standards to increase awareness and understanding of Delaware’s natural resources
Help coordinate and implement spring and summer day camps at Killens Pond State Park
Develop and maintain exhibits, park bulletin boards and educational material
Provide general customer service and park information to visitors
Plan, organize and conduct interpretive walks and tours
Provide live animal care and handling
Perform custodial services in restrooms, offices and other rooms in the Nature Center
Set-up, monitor and provide clean-up support for park programs and special events
Must demonstrate responsibility, dependability and good communication skills
Maintain a positive attitude
Other duties as assigned

Required

Experience working with children and young adults such as babysitting, academic/athletic tutoring, camp counselor, youth volunteer, classroom assistant or education teacher
Knowledge of historical, natural, cultural resources or parks and recreation
Knowledge of public speaking or interpretation
Possession of a valid driver's license (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving)
Applicants must be available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as scheduled
A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire
Applicants for this position must successfully pass a Swim assessment
