General Ledger Accountant
Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox is a highly regarded intellectual property specialty law firm. They are seeking a General Ledger Accountant responsible for managing the general ledger, reporting, reconciliation, and audit tasks.
Law Enforcement
Responsibilities
Maintaining general ledger entries for month-end reporting
Preparing daily cash reconciliation and recap of cash transactions
Assisting in monthly preparation of financial reports
Reconciling bank accounts and other general ledger accounts
Assisting with partner draw reconciliation
Preparing the daily banking report, reconciling operating and trust accounts, preparing wires and ACH transfers
Assisting with calculation of payment of property, sales, and use tax
Analyzing and reviewing expense reports for compliance with the Firm’s policy
Preparing reimbursement for expense reports
Aiding in financial reporting using 3E after ensuring accuracy of postings and identifying budget variances; preparing the monthly report for Directors and Managers; maintaining accounting department tracking and analytical reports
Reconciling payroll contributions to the 401(k) Plan investment accounts; recalculating the firm’s profit sharing contribution quarterly; making corrections and adjustments as needed; preparing worksheets for discrimination tests
Maintaining the fixed asset module; reconciling to the G/L; preparing depreciation for cash, accrual, and tax books
Coordinating estimated tax payments with the Senior Manager, Financial Accounting
Maintaining subject matter expertise in the 3E G/L module and reporting
Organizing and managing audit deliverables; maintaining audit schedules and providing all deliverables on time
Supporting the Senior Manager, Financial Accounting, and performing special projects as assigned
Qualification
Required
3+ years of related accounting experience
Attention to detail, excellent grammar and communication skills
Ability to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Professional conduct to interact with members of the Firm, vendors, consultants, clients and others daily in a constructive, efficient and positive manner
Ability to schedule work to meet all accounting and other deadlines, maintain all confidences, and work under pressure/stress efficiently, and productively and in a professional manner
Excellent Microsoft Excel and database skills, including the ability to analyze data
Must possess critical thinking and problem resolution skills and be willing to display initiative to learn and perform all duties in a complex accounting environment
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in accounting, business or related field preferred
