Supervisory Management Inspections Specialist

Responsibilities
Supervising and directing the performance of multiple inspection and assessment projects that are being conducted concurrently in support of the CBP Juvenile Coordinator's monitoring and reporting duties
Applying up-to-date knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, and standard operating procedures, and supervising the development of an inspection protocol and methodology that will guide the timely completion of inspection project objectives
Performing a full-range of supervisory functions that include but are not limited to: providing guidance to subordinates concerning organizational policies, procedures, and standards; planning work, setting and adjusting short term priorities, and preparing schedules for completion of work; assigning work to subordinates based on priorities and the subordinates' experience and capabilities; evaluating and accepting the work products of subordinates; giving advice, counsel, and instructions to subordinates on work and administrative matters
Verifying appropriate research, such as the review of prior reports issued by the CBP Juvenile Coordinator, Management Inspections Division (MID), or external oversight entities such as the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office of the Inspector General (OIG) and the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO), is performed, reviewing reports, providing feedback on draft reports, and presenting findings to leadership
Ensuring the timely development of internal inspections and assessment reports; reviews and provides feedback to subordinates on draft reports, and accepts such reports

Primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years

CBP follows the DHS Drug-Free Workplace Plan for drug testing procedures

Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process
Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 12/23/2025
Background Investigation: U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is a federal law enforcement agency that requires all applicants to undergo a thorough background investigation prior to employment
There is a residency requirement for all applicants not currently employed by CBP
All employees new to the federal government must serve a one year probationary period during the first year of his/her initial permanent federal appointment to determine fitness for continued employment
Individual must pass and maintain a background investigation that requires a Secret clearance
All newly appointed GS-15s are required to complete mandatory training
