Associate Counsel - Litigation

KeyBank National Association is seeking an experienced attorney to join Key Legal’s Litigation Section. The role involves managing defensive litigation and arbitration matters, providing legal advice, and coordinating with clients and outside counsel.

Banking

Responsibilities

Management of defensive litigation and arbitration matters
Retention, management and coordination of outside counsel, including budgets
Coordinating and assisting with other Key Legal line of business support attorneys and clients
Coordinating with, and updating, line of business clients related to litigation matters
With some supervision and oversight, provides sound legal advice on routine matters
Provide legal advice and support for all lines of business involved in defensive litigation
Pursues an understanding of litigation, business and regulatory environment through experience and training opportunities
Consults on more complex matters with supervision
Possesses skills and experience in defensive litigation, class actions, and arbitrations
Develops ability to anticipate client needs based on understanding of business and regulatory environment
Proven comfort level/ experience collaborating with professionals and management
Ability to influence others through growing business acumen and technical knowledge
Adept in performing legal research; leverages the right resources to develop solutions that balance meeting the needs of the business and mitigating risk to Key
Proactively escalates issues within Key Legal as appropriate
Working knowledge of banking industry
Actively participates in other daily tasks of Key Legal as needed
Knowledge and experience with Local, State and Federal Civil Rules of Procedure

Required

Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience and familiarity with defensive litigation
Experience with arbitration
Experience with mediation
Experience with case management
Experience with budgeting
Experience with subpoenas
Experience with electronic discovery
Bachelor's Degree
Juris Doctor Degree
Active Ohio State Bar Admission
Demonstrated litigation-related experience in areas relevant to Key's business, services and products
Ability to work with a team, honor commitments, demonstrate open and honest communication, accept responsibility, and meet high ethical standards
Excellent writing, analytical, and communication skills
Strong organization and planning skills, must manage multiple matters, track information, and prioritize time
Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships within a large organization
Willingness to learn new areas of the law, acquire new skills, and take on additional and/or new responsibilities as needed
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and on multiple and varied projects simultaneously
Knowledge and experience with Local, State and Federal Civil Rules of Procedure

Preferred

Knowledge of Financial Services Law

Knowledge of Consumer and Commercial Law
