Engineer II, Production Support & Mechanical Engineering (Onsite)

Responsibilities
Perform lead on-site engineering duties for Collins Aerospace hardware investigations or inquiries at the Columbus Engine Center
Provide substantiated technical evaluations and dispositions for defective components, referencing both Collins and Pratt & Whitney blueprint requirements, as well as production and field limits
Direct support activities for Power & Controls - Engine Control Systems (ECS) components as they progress through the CEC Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) shop
Initiate quality and engineering improvement activities throughout all MRO phases for GTF engines (PW1100, PW1500, PW1900) and F117 programs
Utilize RTX CORE Methods and Tools to conduct comprehensive investigations into product non-quality events and support Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) processes as needed
Facilitate the monthly creation and reporting of component removal trends and quality issues to share with the Integrated Program Management Team across multiple disciplines
Provide technical recommendations to the worldwide MRO Network across various functions and disciplines
Develop and maintain new relationships with engine centers across the GTF MRO Network
Support the F135 program at the West Palm Beach and Middletown Engine Centers as critical issues arise
Create standard work guidelines for the on-site engineering representative roles at customer locations
Represent Collins Aerospace - East (Hamilton Sundstrand) at GTF Network customer conferences and deliver presentations on investigations and component improvement projects as needed
Research supplier specifications and processes to approve or substantiate rework or repair of hardware
Interpret Make/Buy item tolerances and features in part drawings. Develop and incorporate new ways to advance technology and improve processes as an individual and as a team contributor. Embrace a continuous improvement philosophy
Professionally represent the Collins Engineering Partnership Office (EPO) and provide routine status updates to the Windsor Locks, CT Program Office and Chief Engineers Office as applicable
Foster collaboration between engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to optimize solutions for repair or rework to ensure consistency across product development stages
Qualification
Required
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
Preferred
Experience in using RCCA methodologies and RTX CORE tools to conduct comprehensive investigations, resolve technical issues, and drive continuous improvement in quality and performance
Proven ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams, build and maintain relationships within the worldwide MRO network, and deliver impactful presentations to customers and stakeholders
Experience managing stakeholders and coordinating teams to align with business objectives, while maintaining a customer-centric approach
Consistently ensured team accountability in meeting project deadlines, budgets, and quality standards
Established and supported a culture focused on quality and continuous improvement
