Senior Architectural Historian

Responsibilities

Conducting and overseeing inventory and evaluation reports for architectural history
Client care and management
Serving as principal investigator for architectural history projects and tasks
Business development including responding to competitive and sole source opportunities
Coordinating and managing fieldwork for staff
Conducting and supervising archival and historical research
Preparing architectural history impacts/adverse effects assessments and developing mitigation measures for architectural history
Preparing NHPA and CEQA technical reports
California DPR 523 records and Historic American Building Survey (HABS) / Historic American Engineering Record (HAER) / Historic American Landscape Surveys (HALS)
Serving as project manager assisting clients on mid to large size projects
Demonstrate confidence in decision-making and be recognized by clients and peers as having expertise in architectural history
Identifying and developing new opportunities, preparing practical proposals, and actively developing new business with new and existing clients
Training and mentoring staff on Section 106 and CEQA requirements for architectural history
Preparing and managing a variety of complex architectural history evaluations, impacts assessment or finding of effects, and developing effective mitigation measures or other tasks for a wide variety of local and regional projects

Required

Master of Arts (completed M.A. degree) in History, Public History, Architecture, Architectural History, or a closely related field
8-15 years of experience
Conducting and overseeing inventory and evaluation reports for architectural history
Client care and management
Serving as principal investigator for architectural history projects and tasks
Business development including responding to competitive and sole source opportunities
Coordinating and managing fieldwork for staff
Conducting and supervising archival and historical research
Preparing architectural history impacts/adverse effects assessments and developing mitigation measures for architectural history
Preparing NHPA and CEQA technical reports
Preparing California DPR 523 records
Preparing Historic American Building Survey (HABS) / Historic American Engineering Record (HAER) / Historic American Landscape Surveys (HALS)
Serving as project manager assisting clients on mid to large size projects
Responsible for technical report quality, client care, agency coordination, budgeting, billing, scheduling, invoicing
Demonstrating confidence in decision-making and being recognized by clients and peers as having expertise in architectural history
