Responsibilities
Lead the design and analysis of high-voltage substations (69kV to 500kV), including equipment layouts, grounding systems, and protection and control schemes
Oversee technical deliverables such as site layouts, equipment specifications, and substation modeling to meet project specifications
Collaborate with project managers, permitting teams, and construction teams to ensure alignment on project objectives and seamless integration from design through execution
Prepare and review detailed plans, specifications, and cost estimates
Address technical challenges in substation engineering, employing innovative solutions and best practices
Support system performance optimization and reliability improvements
Ensure designs comply with industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements (e.g., NESC, IEEE, and ASCE standards)
Conduct quality checks and supported audits for project documentation and design integrity
Mentor junior engineers, providing technical guidance and fostering their growth within the organization
Lead design reviews and offer expertise to improve team outputs
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
OR- Relevant industry experience in place of an engineering degree
Relevant experience in substation design and transmission/distribution projects (medium to high voltage)
Strong knowledge of substation and distribution system principles, standards, and regulations
Strong Project management experience
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment
Preferred
P.E. license (preferred for senior-level positions)
PMP certification preferred
