Responsibilities
Design, implement, and manage complex network architectures including LAN, WAN, MPLS, and VPN solutions
Configure and maintain network devices such as Cisco routers, Cisco ASA firewalls, Juniper devices, and switches to ensure optimal performance
Monitor network performance using tools like SolarWinds, PRTG, and Splunk; perform troubleshooting to resolve connectivity issues promptly
Manage network security protocols including firewall policies, IDS/IPS systems, SSL/TLS encryption, IPsec VPNs, LDAP authentication, and PKI infrastructure
Administer network support tasks such as DHCP, DNS configuration, Active Directory integration, load balancing, high availability setups, and system backups
Implement and maintain routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, EIGRP; manage MPLS networks and optimise traffic flow with QoS policies
Oversee virtualisation platforms such as VMware vSphere and utilise cloud services like Azure and AWS for hybrid network solutions
Conduct regular system updates and patches on operating systems including Windows Server, Linux distributions (Debian, CentOS, Ubuntu), Solaris, and openSUSE
Automate routine tasks using scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash (Unix shell), Python; utilise Ansible for configuration management
Ensure compliance with ITIL standards; develop disaster recovery plans for high availability environments
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on network installation projects; support remote access software solutions like Citrix and SSH for secure connectivity

Extensive knowledge of computer networking principles including TCP/IP stack, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), network protocols (DNS, DHCP, NFS), and Ethernet standards
Strong experience with network security measures such as firewalls (Cisco ASA), SSL/TLS encryption, VPNs (IPsec), IDS/IPS systems (Snort), SSO solutions, and network monitoring tools (SolarWinds)
Proficiency in configuring and managing Cisco ISE for identity services; familiarity with SAN storage solutions; experience with load balancing technologies
Hands-on expertise in system administration across multiple operating systems: Windows Server environments; Linux distributions like Debian or CentOS; UNIX-based systems including Solaris
Knowledge of virtualisation technologies such as VMware vSphere; containerisation concepts; cloud platforms including Azure and AWS
Ability to develop scripts using PowerShell or Bash for automation; experience with DevOps practices is advantageous
Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot complex network issues efficiently; excellent organisational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously
