Senior Design Engineer - Mechanical Systems

Responsibilities

Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical engineering design for RISE
Requires specialized knowledge within the function. Influence the development of strategy for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and influences policy formulation
Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work
Demonstrates strong decision-making and problem-solving skills in operational, product management, manufacturing, technology, or engineering contexts. Evaluates information critically, engages stakeholders with relevant questions, and proposes innovative solutions beyond established boundaries, offering actionable recommendations
Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision
May lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicates difficult concepts and may influence others' options on particular topics. May guide others to consider a different point of view

Required

Bachelor's or advanced degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
Minimum of 5 years of experience in design engineering
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening

Preferred

Bachelor's or advanced degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering from an accredited university or college
Minimum of 10 years of experience in jet engine design engineering
Demonstrated expertise in design and analysis tools, such as NX and ANSYS
Experience and familiarity with GD&T principles and reading drawings
Experience in manufacturing high-precision, turbomachinery components
Familiarity with and ability to leverage FLIGHT DECK, GE Aerospace's proprietary LEAN operating model
Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
History of building an inclusive culture with global teams
Strong leadership skills, with the ability to influence others and lead small teams
Demonstrated ability to analyze & solve technical design challenges with sound documentation, planning, & program management skills
Ability to independently organize, document, plan and execute simultaneous projects while aligning with business priorities
