Responsibilities

Participate in the preparation and review of quality management programs and procedures, as assigned
Participate in the preparation of technical quality assurance procedures in accordance with approved Laboratory policies
Provides quality assurance, compliance, and requirements management and implementation support for weapons programs
Maintain administrative requirements database through requirement data entry and mapping
Ensure quality assurance results, materials, processes and final products meet quality specific specifications and are completed according to established requirements
Maintain and operate systems and provide training for continuous improvement; metrics, assessments, procurement quality; internal and external assessments, surveillance, and audits; lessons learned; risk characterization; issues and corrective actions management for weapons programs
Develop and implement institutional and/or weapons policies and procedures related to quality, requirements flow down, data gathering, and analysis, cause and corrective action determination and verification, and process improvement activities
Lead the development or update of quality management programs and procedures, as assigned
Demonstrate responsibility for independent actions, decision-making and accountability within their areas of responsibility, managing multiple tasks with minimal supervision
Lead or participate in internal and external assessments when assigned
Follow up on actions taken in response to audit/assessment/surveillance findings to ensure adequacy of corrective actions are taken
Establish contacts across directorates within LANL and occasionally external to the Laboratory
Provide direction to less experienced personnel within their quality assurance function

Required

Demonstrated capability in interpersonal and communication skills as evidenced by successful interaction with various levels of management and stakeholders
Proven record of providing customer focused services
Proven skills and experience in completing moderately complex assignments
Experience and ability to ensure quality assurance requirements are met during the design, procurement, and assembly of nuclear weapons-related items
Awareness of hazardous/nuclear materials safety practices
Position requires a Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation
Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal and communication skills as evidenced by successful interaction with various levels of management, state or federal regulators, stakeholders or suppliers
Proven record of success leading cross-organizational teams
Advanced ability to interact successfully under pressure
Advanced ability to work with minimal direction to accomplish general programmatic objectives
Advanced level of analytical ability and innovative thinking
Demonstrated ability to accept accountability for safety of self and others
Position requires a Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation

Preferred

Knowledge of and experience with quality assurance regulatory/contractual/technical documents (e.g., Department of Energy [DOE] orders, DOE Order 414.1, 10CFR830, NQA-1, DOE/NNSA weapons quality policy (NAP401.1A), nuclear weapons complex technical business practices, the NNSA quality assurance procedure and contractual requirements relevant to quality assurance activities)
Basic knowledge of weapons systems, manufacturing, production, and design operations and practices
Working knowledge of requirement databases (DOORS, etc.)
Experience leading quality audits
Experience in training system administration and coordination
Experience in inventory management: inventory accounting, inventory auditing, cycle counting, etc. (cyber-security focused preferred)
Skilled in development of tools for quality assurance program development, technical assessments, and corrective action plan development and review, and authoritative reporting to LANL organizations, DOE/NNSA, and contractor organizations
