Responsibilities

Establishes and maintains DevOps/DataOps best practices, including CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC technologies including Terraform, Databricks Asset Bundles and Azure DevOps), and version control strategies to optimize scale and velocity

Leads the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable and resilient cloud infrastructure (Azure, Databricks) to support the Enterprise Data Platform

Serves as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Data Engineering Infrastructure, including Databricks Workspaces, Unity Catalog, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL MI, Azure Key Vault and Storage Accounts

Leads complex infrastructure projects from end to end; drives analysis from technical design through completion

Designs and implements monitoring, alerting, and cost-management (FinOps) solutions to proactively identify performance issues and optimize cloud spend

Acts as a point of escalation (including off hours) and deep SME resource to manage platform admin failures and complex troubleshooting events

Collaborates with Data Engineering, Infrastructure, Architecture, and Security teams to ensure DE infrastructure aligns with security, compliance, and governance standards

Guides and mentors other engineers on working in a DevOps structure/environment; conducts code and configuration reviews to ensure reliability

Defines standardization and reuse opportunities for infrastructure components to streamline the deployment of data solutions

Responsible for the technical integrity and availability of the platform; ensures robust backup and disaster recovery plans are in place and tested

Identifies and documents processes for platform administration, ensuring knowledge sharing and reducing single points of failure

Identifies immediate and larger scope problems through thorough code reviews as a member of the Code Review Board

Evaluates and recommends new cloud technologies and tools to improve platform scalability, velocity, and reliability

Designs solid, robust, and extensible platform systems to support key business flows and analytics delivery

Required

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university

7+ years relevant work experience

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience

DevOps Tools: Terraform, Databricks Asset Bundles, Azure DevOps

Cloud Platforms: Azure, AWS (Azure preferred)

Big Data Technologies: Apache Spark minimum, similar technologies a plus

Data Warehousing: Databricks minimum, Snowflake is a plus

Database Technologies: SQL preferred

Programming Languages: Python, SQL
