WVU Medicine is seeking a Director of Finance for Post Acute Care Services. This role involves directing accounting practices, maintaining financial records, and overseeing budgeting and financial reporting for assigned service lines, while coordinating with other departments and developing financial models for leadership.

Responsibilities

Responsible for maintaining a financial accounting system for timely and accurate recording, allocation, and monitoring of all financial transactions in the general ledger system. Responsible for ensuring that sound accounting practices are implemented in accordance with standards issued by FASB, GASB, and other authoritative bodies

Responsible for the processing and development of the operating budget which includes statistical, expense, revenue, capital, and cash budgets and development of budgeted financial statements. Develop specific objectives, department budgets, and performance standards for each area of responsibility

Responsible for monitoring budget performance and providing ongoing reporting and variance explanations. Facilitates early recognition of changes in the circumstances so that timely operating adjustments can be made when necessary

Coordinate operations through direction of staff in general accounting, budgeting, cash forecasting and management, capital asset management, and accounts receivables. Provides direct oversight to all areas. Review all employees’ work on a periodic basis, specifically for identifying quality problems and implementing corrective actions. Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the job descriptions and key requirements for each position of all areas; instruct others in the performance of duties; hold employees accountable at all times for the responsibilities inherent in their positions

Utilize data visualization techniques to design and implement dashboard reports for senior management, identifying key performance benchmarks and monitoring company financial health

Access Management & Optimization: Lead, refine, and oversee centralized intake and referral processes for all post-acute service lines (Home Health, Hospice, HME), ensuring timely, efficient, and patient-centered care transitions from acute and ambulatory settings to home-based services

Assure effective HME billing and revenue cycle functions including accurate and timely management of Accounts Receivable, denial resolution, WIP corrections, and billing for special products

Lead to optimize the revenue cycle, improve financial outcomes, and support seamless collaboration with insurance providers and internal teams

Required

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or other related field

Five (5) years of progressive supervisory experience in healthcare finance or accounting, ideally with direct exposure to post-acute care operations and reimbursement (e.g., home health, hospice, HME)

Demonstrates leadership abilities

Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Working knowledge of general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, cash management and fixed asset information systems

Knowledge of desktop applications including Excel, Word, and Power Point

Preferred

Master's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or other related field

Seven (7) years of supervisory experience in healthcare finance or accounting with direct exposure to post-acute care operations and reimbursement (e.g., home health, hospice, HME)
