Lead Project Controls Specialist

The Lead Project Controls Specialist will monitor and report on project progress, ensuring effective integration of cost control, scheduling, and change management across various departments.

Responsibilities
Responsible for cost management; development and implementation of cost control systems for engineering, procurement and construction activities, cost reporting, cost variance analysis, trending, forecasting and cash flows
Ensure that the project schedule is updated and current and communicated to the Project Team
Ensure forecasts are prepared and integrated according to project and DMC requirements
Ensure effective cost control, assessment and analysis is performed and reported
Ensure that suitable procedures and systems for project planning and scheduling are followed
Ensure accuracy in the reporting of progress and productivity and earned value
Responsible for creating internal status reports (cost, manpower etc.) and external weekly and monthly reports to the Client
Assessment of Subcontractor cost submissions for management approval
Ensure that all invoicing is appropriately reviewed, recorded and stored
Monitor and action past due invoices and payments
Generate project accruals for submission to the Client
Ensure the accurate, complete, and auditable invoices (progress certificates) are generated and submitted to the client
Ensure that all cost data is appropriately managed, accessible and auditable
Control, analyze and processes change to scope, cost and schedule on the project
Promote the communication of change occurring at site and head office engineering and schedules change meetings appropriately
Responsible for communicating potential corrective actions with the DMC Project Team
Interact with engineering, procurement, and construction personnel to understand and communicate issues and conflicts that impact the schedule and/or cost
Other related duties as may be assigned
Qualification
Required
5+ years of project controls experience including planning, scheduling, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and estimating
Must have experience supporting construction and mining projects
Project scheduling experience
Experience in Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) projects would be an asset
MS Word / Excel and P6 software proficiency required
Experience doing cost loaded schedules and earned value progress
Bachelor's degree in engineering, accounting or finance or related discipline
Strong attention to detail
