Responsibilities
Supplier Identification & Qualification: Source and qualify suppliers for new components, materials, and assemblies that align with engineering, quality and customer requirements
Early Supplier Engagement: Partner with engineering and NPI teams early in product development to ensure supplier input on manufacturability, lead time, and cost targets
Commercial Management: Coordinate Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) execution for new suppliers. Manage RFQs/RFPs for new parts and assemblies—analyzing cost structures, evaluating technical capability, and negotiating terms
Risk & Cost Management: Evaluate sourcing risks, implement mitigation plans, and identify opportunities for cost optimization and long-term agreements
Research aircraft technical publications (IPC’s, AMM’s, CMM’s, etc.) for required technical documentation
Program Support: Coordinate sourcing activities with NPI, engineering and project team to meet program milestones and customer deliverables
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, operations, and quality to ensure supplier performance meets design and compliance standards
Supplier Development: Drive supplier readiness for new product introduction, ensuring capacity, quality systems (AS9100), and process controls are in place
Data & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of sourcing decisions, supplier performance, and cost tracking within ERP and procurement systems
Qualification
Required
Well-developed communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey information and ideas clearly and concisely
Must have strong follow-up skills and the ability to develop productive business relationships via the phone (primary) and e-mail (secondary)
Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (emphasis on MS Excel)
Ability to make good decisions based upon a mixture of analysis, experience, and judgment
Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize, balance, and manage multiple items with effective results
Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and strict attention to detail
Learns quickly when facing new challenges; open to change; strives for continuous improvement of self and processes
The position may require travel to suppliers to evaluate supplier capabilities
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Data Analytics or related field
3+ years of experience in new product development, strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain within aerospace or precision manufacturing
Understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, metal forming, castings, composites or other aviation related commodity groups
Knowledge of AS9100 and FAA aerospace quality requirements
Demonstrated ability to negotiate and manage supplier relationships effectively
Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Aviation-related experience and familiarity with aircraft technical documentation is a plus
Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and sourcing analytics tools
Familiarity with Design for Manufacturing principles, cost modeling, and value engineering
Advanced Excel and data analysis capabilities
