Environmental Services Technician

Responsibilities
Operation of the Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP)
Backup Operator in Responsible Charge (BORC) - Because the Richburg facility has NPDES and Pretreatment permits, this is a state-required position, which must be licensed through the state of South Carolina
Analytical Sampling - Collect samples required by the Pretreatment permit. Also collect samples and perform analysis for daily in-house monitoring
Treatment Chemical Management - Monitor treatment chemical storage tank levels and make additions as necessary
Used Oil Treatment and Recycling - Treat coolants from the Richburg plant using various treatment technologies
Maintenance - Perform preventive and corrective maintenance for the WWTP and acid dosing equipment
On Call - The Lead Environmental Technician or an Environmental Technician are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays
Cooling Towers (Critical for production operations)
Chemically treat each cooling tower and check for proper operation and primary make-up water source
Spill Prevention, Containment and Countermeasures Plan (SPCC Plan)
Perform weekly inspection of potential sources of fluid spills and maintain records in accordance with state requirements and ATI Richburg SPCC Plan
Universal Wastes
Collect and package Universal Wastes including fluorescent light bulbs, mercury switches, aerosol cans and used batteries
Hazardous, Special Industrial and General Wastes
Responsible for proper handling, storage and disposal of hazardous, special and general wastes
Byproduct/Revert Management
Manage byproducts and revert per the direction of the Recycling Coordinator. These duties will include transportation, consolidation, scheduling pickups, completing bills of lading, and other tasks associated with the management of byproducts and revert
Pickling Line
Responsible for daily testing all pickling solutions for pickling line and dosing chemicals to the pickling line

Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or GED
Mechanical aptitude
One year and up to including three years of experience
Knowledge of environmental systems
Must obtain B Level P/C Waste Water Treatment License through SC LLR within prescribed period
