Assistant Corporation Counsel - Family Court JD-MCU
The City of New York Law Department is seeking an Assistant Corporation Counsel for the Family Court Division’s Advanced Litigation and Major Case Unit. The role involves extensive training in the prosecution of firearms cases, handling a caseload in juvenile delinquency matters, and participating in courtroom litigation.

Responsibilities
Handle cases involving the possession and/or use of firearms, but may also handle other types of felony cases
Carry a caseload and are responsible for all aspects of the practice
Conduct community outreach and engagement, case investigation, motion practice, conducting extensive discovery, and courtroom litigation including pre-trial hearings, trials and dispositional hearings
Draft cases and appear in the Youth Part of the Supreme Court as a Special Assistant District Attorney
Participate in a citywide rotation of night and weekend court assignments
Qualification
Required
Admitted attorney
Minimum of four years litigation experience
Ability to work independently
Strong litigation skills
Strong oral communication skills
Strong written communication skills
Excellent judgment
Exceptional organizational abilities
Strong leadership skills
Solid knowledge of criminal law
Knowledge of the Family Court Act
Knowledge of evidentiary issues
Strong interpersonal skills
